Give your son or daughter the gift of lifelong learning strategies – for school, university, college and learning in the workplace. If you have any of the concerns below, academic coaching is right for your student.
- My son is doing okay in Grade 11 but he doesn’t seem to have any strategies for learning – we want him to do his best so that he can choose from the best universities.
- My daughter is attending university this fall – we want to make sure that she can achieve her potential for future career plans and graduate studies.
- Money is tight for tuition and we cannot afford lost years of study – a lost year of study can cost $10,000+!
- I have a first year student who is struggling after first term – while she did fine in high school, she seems lost at university and is losing her motivation and enthusiasm for learning.
- My son will be attending a 2-year college program – it is a competitive field for jobs and getting top grades can make a difference.
- I tried tutoring for my high school student but it seems that the problem is not understanding a specific subject, but a broad lack of study skills.
- My son never takes notes or writes information down. His binders are a disaster and now that he is in high school, I think it is having a negative impact on his grades.
- My daughter has difficulty in keeping track of when her assignments are due and tends to leave end of term projects and big assignments to the last minute.
1 in every 3 students either drops out or fails to graduate after six years of study!
You should be aware that it is not uncommon for students to encounter difficulties that prevent them from graduating. According to a 2009 Statistics Canada report (Youth in Transition Survey) the drop out rate for students attending post-secondary education institutions is 21% with an additional 12 % who have insufficient grades to allow them to graduate after six years of study.
