Compass Academic Coaching and Consulting was founded by Ann Dwire, Dip. OT (UK), BA, MA. Ann, who is British by birth, has lived in Canada for thirty-two years and in Nova Scotia for twenty-six years.
Ann has worked with youth and adults as an occupational therapist, instructor and professor, and most recently as the Assistant Dean (Student Matters) in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS.
As Assistant Dean, Ann’s role was to work with students in academic difficulty. Seven years experience working with students who were at risk of failing their year, who had been academically dismissed, who had experienced personal challenges impacting on their studies, and who lacked the knowledge and strategies to succeed, have enabled Ann to know what works for students. Her skills in working with and motivating students have enabled her to build meaningful relationships with them – the key factor to any successful academic intervention.
